Watertown was amped up and ready to rock when HellYeah and Holy Grail came to town! I’ve never experienced a crowd quite like this!! The mosh pit were in full swing, the fist were flying and it was evident that they came to kick ass while they “Drink Drank Drunk!” What a crazy, out of control, fun crowd!
We got to the show just before the Californian natives, Holy Grail were about to go on. These guys really can take command of the crowd! They have a more traditional heavy metal sound with ripping guitar solos, tight melody and clean high pitch vocals. Think Iron Maiden, Think Accept. Think Judas Priest, Think of Ronnie James Dio fronting Sabbath. All these classic sounds that make those bands stand the test of time, Holy Grail possesses. With one studio album under their belt, fans anxiously await the release of their follow up album “Rise The Void,” slated for a January 22, 2013 release through Prosthetic Records in North America, January 18, 2013 release in Europe (Nuclear Blast Records) and January 16, 2013 in Japan through
Universal Records. Pre-orders will be available through RideTheVoid.com. To get a little more insight into the band, check out the interview MPJ did with the guys earlier this year when they were on the tour with Eluveitie.
Headlining the night was HellYeah. They kicked the volume up a few more notches, and the fired up crowd followed suit. With the thunder beats of the legendary Vinnie Paul on the drums, the charismatic frontman Chad Gray leading the way with tight vocals, Greg Tribbett and Tom Maxwell tearing it up on guitars and Bob Zilla destroying it on bass, there is just no denying that this band rocks hard! They bring it on 200%, leaving nothing unturned, slamming one rock anthem after another. The set list included “War In Me,’ “Band of Brothers” and “Drink Drank Drunk” of their latest album “Band Of Brothers,” mixed in with older favorites like “Cowboys Way,” “Stampede” and “Matter Of Time” to name a few. They always leave the crowd wanting more music, more beer and chanting “Can I get a HellYeah!” Earlier this week HellYeah joined forces with Lamb Of God, Inflames and Sylosis for the second leg of their North American tour. That’s one line up that will be sure to slay! (Dates below).
