Opening the show was Hungry Jack. We only caught a glimpse of the ever entertaining band that comes out in fun costumes. Fitting to have them open for a tour that’s titled “Halloween.” It almost felt like they were doing a GWAR-ish type show, but a little less vulgar. Hungry Jack will be hosting “The Five Finger Death Punch block party” before the Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment, Papa Roch and From Ashes show on Oct 9 at the Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, NY. It starts at 2pm, so go a little early if your heading out.
Run 2 Cover was the first national act on the tour. Don’t let the age of these kids fool you. They have catchy tunes that were well executed! They are sure to go far. It’s hard not to think of young rocking bands like Hanson (Run 2 Cover also has brothers in the band), but they are more serious about their music. They are out in support of their debut album “Lovesick.”
Stitched Up Heart was up next. They came out hitting hard and ready to rock! With a nice blend of screams and clean vocals, mixed in with cool riffs and melodies – You can see why there is a buzz is about this band. You may recognize Vocalist Alecia “Mixi” Demner as she was the winner of Fuse’s reality TV show, “Redemption Song.” Stitched Up Heart is out in support of their EP “Skeleton Key” and the new single release “Frankenstein.”
Alecia also does work with Kitten Rescue. She has a “Kitten Kitty Fund” box at their merch booth. The money will go to help rescue kittens from shelters. When they are too little and need to be bottle fed, most shelters will not keep them alive. The Kitten Rescue helps find them foster homes until they can find their permanent homes.
Headlining the night was One Eyed Doll! These two pack so much energy into a set, it’s unreal!! On stage, Kimberly wears many hats/outfits as she tells her stories which lead into her songs. She really engages her audience, giving them 110% crowd interaction while demanding in return that her crowd participates with her sing-a-longs. There is really no way that you can leave a One Eyed Doll show without a smile on your face and be very much entertained. Their songs have catchy riffs and melodies, backed with Junior on the drums. While One Eyed Doll has a mix of more serious subject songs, others ooze with fun twisted humor like “Be My Friend” in which the sing-along goes ” Serial killers are people too. If you take away the voices I’m just like you. I’ll hack you up and bury you in my yard, but why does making friends have to be so very hard?” which also comes along with a dance that Kimberly teaches the crowd before they begin.
One Eyed Doll’s current album “Witches,” is a concept album revolving around the Salem Witch Trials of 1690’s. To find out a little more about the album, how the band came up with the concept and much more, check out the interview with did with Kimberly and Junior before the show.
The Tour is called HALLOWEEN and runs through Oct 31st. If you are anywhere near this tour – you should definitely check it out!! You will be glad you did!
