REVIEW AND PHOTOGRAPHS BY: COURTNEY LUDWIG
It was a warm night in June when one of Tucson’s premier concert venues, The Ava Amphitheater (outside of the Casino Del Sol) held the sold out Tesla and The Scorpions show. With the stage extended out as far as allowed, this was amazing if not the most spectacular show I have ever seen.
Starting earlier than scheduled, still did not stop a great performance by opening act Tesla. I have had the opportunity to see Tesla in their acoustic form; however, seeing them live in an unconstrained form, being able to rock hard and move about the stage, was so much more theatrical and alive. Tesla always putting on great performance that their fans know and come to see. Tesla along with the father act, the Scorpions was more than having your cake and eating it too. It was more a seven course meal!
Never seen before let alone photographed by me, the Scorpions were just so on it and that made for a very electrifying performance.
They played songs all too familiar to us. I loved Rudolf Schenker’s guitar antics and running around on stage, the energetic drumming style and crazy blonde hair of James Kottak, Pawel Maciwoda’s facial expressions while playing his bass, Matthia Jabs constant smiles and crazy hand licks on guitar and of course the high pitched notes of Klaus Meine.
It was one of those shows that will be forever tattooed in the mind. The night from start to finish was epic, exciting and something the crowd will be talking about for years later.
Tesla and The Scorpions are just two of the bands part of the scene that forever their music will continue to leave a mark of amazement in us and will always keeps us rocking to those timeless classics.
Catch Tesla out on tour in North America this summer, while the Scorpions only have a few more dates in North America before they return home to Germany for several European dates. (see dates below)

Enjoyed looking at this, very good stuff, appreciate it.
Nice job!
This time, vocalist Klaus Meine, guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Jabs, bassist Pawel Maciwoda and drummer James Kottak brought Tesla along for the ride. The Scorps hit the stage, as they did last time, by opening with the title track to 2010 album Sting In The Tail and followed with 1980 classic “Make It Real.” The 2010 AT&T Center performance of the former can be seen on the Sting In The Tail deluxe CD (see link in blue below for more details). Then came one of the only two song differences the entire evening. “Is There Anybody There,” from the 1979 album Lovedrive , replaced “Bad Boys Running Wild” from two summers ago.
