Mike shares with us a memory of a show on Halloween.

It’s funny to think of Mike dressing up as “Mike.” It reminds me of another story I heard about Alice Cooper dressing up as “Alice.” I think it was a show in Hollywood CA in the 70’s; Alice was invited to a Halloween costume party after his show. He dressed up as “Alice,” re-applying the make-up and wearing his stage clothes to the party. Everyone at the party thought he was someone in a great costume that looked so much like Alice, not realizing that it was actually him. Oh how much fun Halloween must be for a famous person; it’s the one night they can go out and just be themselves (or in Mike’s case, not so much as himself) and blend in!

Mike Portnoy was the founding member of Dream Theater. After 25yrs, he left Dream Theater while he was on tour with Avenged Sevenfold. Now Mike is pumped up with his new band, Adrenaline Mob who released their first self-titled EP last summer. Adrenaline Mob is set to release their first full length album in 2012.

But the work doesn’t end there; Mike also drums for Transatlantic and Liquid Tension Experiment. In addition, Mike has recorded and/or performed live with Avenged Sevenfold, Neal Morse, OSI, Hail!, Stone Sour, Fates Warning, Overkill, G3. As if that didn’t keep him busy enough, Mike is also in 4 tribute bands: Yellow Matter Custard (with Paul Gilbert), Hammer Of the Gods, Amazing Journey and Cygnus & The Sea Monsters.
