The power of Hate reverberated throughout Upstate New York this past Saturday as those extreme metal boys from Poland stormed the stage of The Lost Horizon in Syracuse. The audience responded to Hate’s brutal riffs with an almost trance-like fervor mirroring the overwhelmingly positive response which, according to the band’s front man ATF Sinner, they have been receiving since the beginning of their second North American tour. Hate has been traversing the United States and Canada, playing in 29 cities with Rotting Christ and Melechesh in support of their newest album “Erebos.” Innovative and at the same time ferocious, this newest Hate album has two additional tracks for its American release containing dark ambient remixes of Hate songs by French artist Melek-Tha. According to Sinner, the word Erebos comes from the ancient Greek where it literally means “darkness or deep shade.” In the album, Sinner explains, Erebos is used as a metaphor to refer to the “darkness that each of us has within ourselves.” To hear more about “Erebos” from the band members themselves, fans can check out our interview with ATF Sinner and Hate guitarist Destroyer. The tour with Rotting Christ now ended, Hate will not rest but has instead teamed up with Sepultura and Belphegor to continue their death metal march across the country.
