Review by Elle Tourjman – Photos By Nadine Swiger
Clifton Park rocked when Modern Grunge Rockers Puddle of Mudd pulled into Northern Lights with Downplay and Adelita’s Way on Sunday, May 16th.The night started out with a sweetly swift kick in the pants from Colombus Ohio based band Downplay. These self made rockstars have
the look that will be plastered all over teenage girl’s walls everywhere. The girls in the crowd were still screaming even after they left the stage. Please don’t ‘Save Me’ from my new favorite band! Who can blame then when the singer looks like he just came from the set of one of the Twilight movies or from the cast of The Vampire Diaries. I half expect to see them come up with the new theme song for True Blood in the near future. With tight jeans and tats they are sure to become America’s new sweetheart band. Radio friendly with masterfully talented vocals, they have a sound that leaves you wanting so much more. I have no doubt that this group will be rising through the musician ranks very quickly. The crowd came for Puddle Of Mudd but were turned onto Downplay! Check out some of their awesome sound and tour dates on

Following Downplay were the self titled ‘party band’ Adelita’s Way. They may like to have a good time but onstage they are all business with a tight, professional
set that sounded damn good and rocked the audience. Adelita’s Way is a hard rock, alt metal band from Las Vegas Nevada. They are best known for their songs “Invincible” which is the official theme song for WWE Superstars on WGN America and “A New Day”, the theme song for the World Wrestling Entertainment tag team The Legacy. They played their newest single “Last Stand” and I was hooked. This song sounds like it should be featured on Melrose Place or the O.C. They definately know how to work the stage and own their space. They have great stage presence and even got the crowd pumped and jumping during their set. Their new single, self titled “Adelita’s Way” is out in stores. Look them up on

The crowd was cheering and screaming before Puddle Of Mudd stepped foot onstage and even I had chills. They started in right away with their hit “Control” followed up by one of my favorites “Spaceship”. They continued the night banging out hit after hit after hit. The crowd was singing
along with all their favorite POM songs, especially on the song “Take It All Away.” It was particularly entertaining the way the audience kept screaming between songs in typical Capitol Region fashion “You Fuckin’ Rock!” I know it has been said before but I have to say it. Its amazing the way Puddle Of Mudd’s singer, WesScantlin, seemed to be channeling some serious Kurt Cobain energy. I also felt an almost John Lennon vibe coming off him as he skipped around the stage in a kind of grunge rock manner. Its not a case of emulating another band. Its simply the fated, infamous energy that comes around once in a long while and touches the lives of a fortunate few, like Kurt Cobain and Wes Scantlin. Puddle of Mudd puts on an awesome live show that is not to be missed! Catch them live on tour or on their official site at
