The Utica Auditorium was alive when KRock brought Thousand Foot Crutch, Red, Chevelle and Breaking Benjamin to town.
The Toronto ON natives,Thousand Foot Krutch was first up. Warming up the crowd was their job and that is just that they did. The crowd was sparse while fans were still filling in, but they were quickly drawn straight to the stage once inside the doors. Vocalist, Trevor McNevan has an interesting mic stand that looks like a metal spinal cord. TFK is currently out in support for their fifth album, “Welcome To The Masquerade” on the Tooth & Nail Record Label. Look for them this summer when they return to NY with the “Kingdom Bound” festival.
Second up was Nashville Tenessee’s Red. They came out with a strong, solid performance that captivated the audience from the get go. They are currently out on tour in support of their latest album, “Innocence & Instinct” ( Sony Records) which was the follow up to their Grammy-nominated debut album “End of Silence.” Keep an eye out for them this summer when they hit the North American roads with Skillet.
Next up was Grayslake, Illinois very own, Chevelle. The lights went down and a “news broadcast” came over the PA about an alien ship sighting, playing into the theme of Chevelle’s latest album, “Sci-Fi Crimes.” The crowd went wild when they hit the stage. Don’t be fooled with how young these guys look, the band formed in 1995 and has five albums under their belt. With that experience, their live sound is rich and powerful and always put on a good performance. Chevelle will be hitting the road March 26 through April 16th with Three Days Grace.
Headlining the night was the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania natives, Breaking Benjamin. The anticipation grew and the crowd was starting to get antsy when the lights finally went down. They took the stage with a storm, performing their hit single, “I Will Not Bow.” the crowd went ballistic. They continued to play crowd favorites; even a cover of “Dream On” and ended the night with the ever so popular “The Diary Of Jane.” Breaking Benjamin released their fourth studio album last year entitled, “Dear Agony” They will continue to tour with Chevelle, Red and Thousand Foot Krutch until the end of March. Then in April and June, Breaking Benjamin will hit the road with Nickelback, Shinedown and Sick Puppies.
