Staind’s frontman, Aaron Lewis is currently out on his annual solo tour. For the past six years, Lewis has trekked out at the beginning of the New Year (Jan/Feb) to perform an acoustic set all the while breaking chops with the hecklers
in the audience, telling stories and really performing a very laid back entertaining set.
This year we had the opportunity to catch Aaron at one of his sold-out, double set night at the Turning Stone Casino in the Vernon NY. He has played in the Showroom every year, selling out two shows at the 800-seat venue. Turning Stone Casino is a very unusual sort of a place to see a show. You are seated at tables or booths and the casino is currently a non-alcoholic serving venue. However the casino does allow patrons to bring in their own alcohol beverages into the Showroom. It was a strange sight that greeted us as coolers of all kinds were lined up, creating an atmosphere of more of a BYOB party type. Fans in central NY look forward to Aaron’s intimate shows where they love to joke around about him being a Boston Red Sox fan, (most of the audience are Yankees fans), requesting songs and listening to his stories. This time we had a rare treat as Lewis performed a new song, “Walk on Water.” It was a song he said he’d just finished writing.
Look for Aaron Lewis’s solo tour to continue across the US. The second leg of the tour will kick off Feb 25th in Hammond, IN and will continue to at least the end of March.
